Websites are the First Point of Contact for Many Businesses.
Something I learned a long time ago, which is especially true the more and more time passes, is that most potential clients won’t consider working with a business unless they have a website of some sort. I’ve seen far too many businesses wonder why their engagement is dropping year after year, even if they’re in an industry that is booming, only to find out that their website hasn’t been updated since 1998, if they even have one at all.
Now, websites are easy to make, but hard to master. I’ve learned this the hard way in my journey of learning web design. Even my very first portfolio website back in 2017 was at a level of quality that I look back and wonder how in the world someone looked at it and said “I want to give this guy a job”.
Thankfully, as I’ve grown as a designer, I’ve also grown as a web designer. I don’t manage sprawling databases or complex backend programming, but what I do offer is a simple to use, nice looking, and functional website for small business owners who need a leg up over their competition.
My websites are a collaborative effort between myself and the businesses I help. Most people have a very simple idea of what they want, maybe a reference website or two, and some imagery. It’s my job as a designer to take their materials and elevate them into something that makes them say “Wow!”. Once we have the basic format down, we then work together to fill the site with information, services, new images or branding, and even e-commerce should the need arise. After everything is said and done, I still continue to do right by my clients, making sure that their sites are maintained, updated, and up to date no matter what.
